Quick French Crêpes with Nutella and Strawberries, plated dish

Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour 1/2 cup
  • Granulated sugar 1 tablespoon
  • Salt 1/8 teaspoon
  • Large egg 1
  • Milk 3/4 cup
  • Unsalted butter 1 tablespoon
  • Vanilla extract 1/2 teaspoon
  • Nutella 1/4 cup
  • Fresh strawberries 1 cup
  • Powdered sugar 1 tablespoon

How to Cook

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and salt.
  2. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the large egg, milk, melted unsalted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, whisking constantly until the batter is smooth and free of lumps. Let the batter rest at room temperature.
  4. While the batter rests, slice the fresh strawberries.
  5. Heat a non-stick crêpe pan or an 8-inch non-stick skillet over medium heat. Lightly grease the pan with butter or oil if necessary. Pour approximately 1/8 to 1/4 cup of batter into the hot pan (depending on pan size to make 4 crêpes), immediately tilting and swirling the pan to spread the batter evenly into a thin circle. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the edges are lightly golden and the bottom is set and lightly browned. Carefully flip the crêpe with a spatula and cook for another 30 seconds to 1 minute until the other side is lightly browned. Transfer the cooked crêpe to a plate and repeat with the remaining batter, stacking them as you go.
  6. Spread a thin layer of Nutella over each crêpe. Arrange sliced strawberries inside, then fold or roll the crêpes. Dust with powdered sugar if desired and serve immediately.
