How to Cook

  1. Rinse the long-grain white rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine the rinsed rice and 1.5 cups of water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer.
  2. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Trim the ends off the green beans. In a medium bowl, toss the green beans with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, 0.25 teaspoon of salt, and 0.1 teaspoon of black pepper.
  3. Spread the seasoned green beans in a single layer on a baking sheet. Roast in the preheated oven until tender-crisp, about 15 minutes.
  4. Pat chicken thighs dry with paper towels. Season generously with 1 teaspoon of salt and 0.5 teaspoon of black pepper. In a small bowl, whisk together minced garlic, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, 2 tablespoons of water, cornstarch, and optional red pepper flakes to create the honey-garlic sauce.
  5. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken thighs. Sear for 15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until both sides are golden brown and crispy.
  6. Reduce heat to medium-low. Pour the prepared honey-garlic sauce over the chicken in the skillet. Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally, and cook for 7 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken, and the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature 165°F/74°C).
