Spicy Besan Cheela (Savory Gram Flour Pancakes)
A quick and healthy savory pancake made from gram flour, packed with fresh vegetables and aromatic spices. Perfect for a flavorful Indian breakfast that's ready in minutes!

Ingredients
- Gram Flour (Besan) 1 cup
- Water 1 cup
- Onion 1/4 cup
- Green Chili 1 piece
- Ginger 1 tsp
- Coriander Leaves 2 tbsp
- Turmeric Powder 1/4 tsp
- Red Chili Powder 1/2 tsp
- Cumin Powder 1/2 tsp
- Salt to taste tsp
- Oil 2-3 tbsp
How to Cook
- Finely chop the onion, green chili, and coriander leaves. Grate the ginger.
- In a large bowl, combine the gram flour, chopped onion, green chili, grated ginger, chopped coriander, turmeric powder, red chili powder (if using), cumin powder, and salt.
- Gradually add water to the dry ingredients, whisking continuously to form a smooth, lump-free batter with a consistency similar to pancake batter.
- Heat a non-stick pan or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease the pan with a few drops of oil.
- Pour one ladleful of batter onto the hot pan, spreading it gently in a circular motion to form a thin, round cheela (about 6-8 inches in diameter). Drizzle a few drops of oil around the edges and over the top.
- Cook for approximately 3 minutes until the bottom turns golden brown and the edges begin to crisp.
- Flip the cheela and cook for another 2 minutes until the second side is golden brown and cooked through.
- Transfer the cooked cheela to a plate. Repeat steps 5-7 with the remaining batter, lightly greasing the pan before cooking each new cheela.
- Serve the hot Besan Cheela immediately with a side of your favorite chutney or plain yogurt.
